2008: ANNUAL MEETING (7:30 PM)
Syosset
Public Library - Room A:
Topics included: Elections, Budget, Financial Report, Landscaping Report.
Our Guest Speaker was Mr. Michael J. Arcari. Mr. Arcari provides pro
bono services to Nassau County’s Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT). CERT personnel form an organized, trained team that is able to prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate against a major
emergency or disaster.
CERT is a federally funded, community-based program that provides training and ongoing education to better prepare communities and individuals to respond
to emergency situations. When an emergency or disaster happens, CERT members can give critical support to first-line responders and provide immediate
assistance to their community within a coordinated, collaborative, and organized effort. CERT members can also help with
non-emergency preparedness projects that help improve the overall safety and quality of living in their
community.

Every 70 to 90 years, a hurricane has hit Long Island, and the 70th anniversary of the last storm is just around the
corner -- raising the prospect, in this storm season, that another storm on the scale of the 1938 "Long Island
Express" might hit a coastline that has grown much more populous in the intervening years.

would do our area, go to:

October 17, 2006: Police
Warning
The
Second Precinct is experiencing an ongoing pattern of daytime residential
break-ins in the Jericho, Syosset and Woodbury communities. The follow up investigations seem to indicate that they are being
committed by a combination of individuals, one of which is usually a dark
skinned female. They appear to be watching their intended target area from
a vehicle and approach a house after the occupant(s) are observed leaving.
It is quite likely that they ring the doorbell and upon no answer,
they will force entry into the residence from the rear. A white 2002, Ford
Taurus with Pennsylvania plates has been observed at a prior incident.
We are urging residents to take note of their block as they leave
their homes during the day with special attention to unfamiliar parked
autos with multiple occupants. Should you encounter these circumstances, call “911” for a
prompt police response to that location.
